Catering Little Italy :: Baltimore, Maryland

Mary Ann Cricchio, the proprietor of Da Mimmo, her son Mimmo Jr. and Executive Chef Masood had the pleasure of visiting the Amalfi Coast once again this summer. While there, they visited with chefs, wine makers and ceramic artisans to be able to create an authentic Amalfi Coast experience for you here in Baltimore’s famous Little Italy.

Their first stop of their Amalfi Coast adventure was Ristorante Scirocco located on Montepertuso overlooking scenic Positano. Chef Masood had the honor of working with Executive Chef Pasquale Amendola four years ago at the famed Leading Hotel of the World, Le Sirenuse in Positano. After working 16 years in the kitchen at Le Sirenuse, Chef Pasquale decided to open his own family run restaurant, Scirocco. Chef Pasquale prepares genuine Amalfi Coast recipes and gourmet specialties. Working side by side, in the kitchen of Ristorante Scirocco this July, Chefs Pasquale and Masood have chosen dishes to recreate at Da Mimmo to make you feel as though you were sitting on the Amalfi Coast overlooking Positano.

The second stop for the trio was the Vineyards of Feudi di San Gregorio. Located in the Campania region, in the hills of Avellino, the climate is extremely advantageous to producing fine wines. It is hot during the day and cool at night. Because the vineyard is situated in the mountains, all of the grapes are collected by hand. They are placed in wooden barrels from France and then bottles, which are marked and hand turned. With the guidance of wine specialist, Cinzia Alvino, a tasting took place to choose the specific wines that would compliment Chef Pasquale’s Amalfi Coast dishes.

A visit to the Amalfi Coast would not be complete without a visit to one of the local ceramic artisans. The group found whom they believe to be the best, Ceramiche d’Arte, located in Ravello.
